# \pdfoutput

`\pdfoutput[=]` *celé číslo*

* “`[=]`” znamená, že rovnítko je volitelné.

Ta `\pdfoutput` příkaz se používá k určení, zda má soubor vytvořený pdfTeXem být ve formátu DVI nebo PDF. Kladná hodnota *celé číslo* znamená výstup ve formátu PDF, jinak je výstup ve formátu DVI.

**Příklad použití**

* `\pdfoutput=1` nastaví výstupní formát na PDF
* `\pdfoutput=0` nastaví výstupní formát na DVI

#### DVI: stále užitečný

DVI znamená *nezávislý na zařízení* a je původní souborový [výstupní formát pro TeXové enginy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_independent_file_format). Ačkoli byl formát DVI nahrazen PDF, zůstává mimořádně užitečný pro speciální následné zpracování, například pro převod sazby do SVG pomocí [nástroje dvisvgm](https://dvisvgm.de/) nebo pro vytváření HTML z TeXu/LaTeXu pomocí nástrojů, jako je [TeX4ht](http://www.tug.org/tex4ht/).
