# \pdfoutput

`\pdfoutput[=]` *heltal*

* “`[=]`” betyder, at lighedstegnet er valgfrit.

Den `\pdfoutput` kommandoen bruges til at angive, om filen, der produceres af pdfTeX, skal være i DVI- eller PDF-format. En positiv værdi af *heltal* betyder output i PDF-format; ellers er output i DVI-format.

**Brugseksempel**

* `\pdfoutput=1` sætter outputformatet til PDF
* `\pdfoutput=0` sætter outputformatet til DVI

#### DVI: stadig nyttigt

DVI står for *Enhedsuafhængig* og er det oprindelige fil [outputformat for TeX-motorer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_independent_file_format). Selv om DVI-formatet er blevet afløst af PDF, er det stadig yderst nyttigt til særlige efterbehandlingsoperationer såsom at konvertere sat output til SVG med [dvisvgm](https://dvisvgm.de/) eller til at producere HTML fra TeX/LaTeX med værktøjer som [TeX4ht](http://www.tug.org/tex4ht/).
