# \pdfoutput

`\pdfoutput[=]` *Ganzzahl*

* “`[=]`” bedeutet, dass das Gleichheitszeichen optional ist.

Die `\pdfoutput` Der Befehl wird verwendet, um anzugeben, ob die von pdfTeX erzeugte Datei im DVI- oder PDF-Format vorliegen soll. Ein positiver Wert von *Ganzzahl* bedeutet Ausgabe im PDF-Format, andernfalls erfolgt die Ausgabe im DVI-Format.

**Anwendungsbeispiel**

* `\pdfoutput=1` legt das Ausgabeformat auf PDF fest
* `\pdfoutput=0` legt das Ausgabeformat auf DVI fest

#### DVI: immer noch nützlich

DVI steht für *geräteunabhängig* und ist das ursprüngliche Dateiformat [Ausgabeformat für TeX-Engines](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_independent_file_format). Obwohl das DVI-Format von PDF abgelöst wurde, ist es für spezielle Nachbearbeitungsvorgänge nach wie vor äußerst nützlich, etwa zum Konvertieren gesetzter Ausgabe in SVG mit [dvisvgm](https://dvisvgm.de/) oder zum Erzeugen von HTML aus TeX/LaTeX mit Werkzeugen wie [TeX4ht](http://www.tug.org/tex4ht/).
