# BibTeX non funziona; i miei \cite compaiono come punti interrogativi (?)

Questo può accadere per diversi motivi:

* Hai usato qualche `\cite` comando nel tuo documento? Solo le voci bib che sono state `\cite` nel testo principale appariranno nell'elenco della bibliografia.
* Hai specificato il corretto `.bib` nome del file (senza estensioni) per `\bibliography{...}`? È sensibile alle maiuscole/minuscole, quindi attenzione agli errori di battitura.
* Hai specificato lo stile bibliografico con un `\bibliographystyle{...}`? Se lo stile non è [uno standard incluso con TeX Live](/latex/it/domande-e-risposte/84-which-bibtex-styles-are-available-on-overleaf.md), dovrai caricare il `.bst` file nel tuo progetto.
* Potresti avere un errore di sintassi nel tuo `.bib` file che impedisce a bibtex di analizzarlo correttamente. Se è così, dovrebbero esserci alcune informazioni al riguardo nei messaggi di avviso; correggili di conseguenza e bibtex dovrebbe riuscire a leggerli di nuovo.
* Il tuo `.bib` file o principale `.tex` file si trova in una cartella che ha spazi o caratteri insoliti nel nome? Il `.tex` file principale dovrebbe sempre trovarsi al livello superiore, e a volte i file in cartelle con spazi o caratteri insoliti possono non essere trovati dal processo di compilazione.
* Se hai fatto tutto quanto sopra e le citazioni ancora non funzionano: questo può accadere anche in alcuni casi limite, a causa di come le righe sono formattate nel file .log e di come lo strumento di compilazione legge il file. Aggiungere `\typeout{}` subito prima del tuo `\bibliography{...}` potrebbe aiutare.
