# \pdfoutput

`\pdfoutput[=]` *整数*

* “`[=]`” は、等号が省略可能であることを意味します。

この `\pdfoutput` コマンドは、pdfTeX によって生成されるファイルを DVI 形式にするか PDF 形式にするかを指定するために使われます。正の値の *整数* は PDF 形式での出力を意味し、それ以外の場合は DVI 形式で出力されます。

**使用例**

* `\pdfoutput=1` 出力形式を PDF に設定します
* `\pdfoutput=0` 出力形式を DVI に設定します

#### DVI: いまでも有用

DVI は *デバイス非依存* であり、元のファイルの [TeX エンジンの出力形式です](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_independent_file_format)。DVI 形式は PDF に取って代わられていますが、組版結果を SVG に変換するなどの特別な後処理において今でも非常に有用です。 [dvisvgm](https://dvisvgm.de/) また、次のようなツールを使って TeX/LaTeX から HTML を生成する場合などにも使われます。 [TeX4ht](http://www.tug.org/tex4ht/).
